If we didn't charge a diagnostic fee for the more labor intensive diagnostics, every other repair shop would send cars here to be checked to see what parts needed to be replaced for no charge. If you decided to have this repair done that day or at a later date in the future, that diagnostic fee gets automatically applied to the repair charge. If the warranty company does not cover the repair and you don't want to get the repairs done, the technician still needs to be compensated for the time he has put into the diagnostics.
